I was becoming more and more uncomfortable in my job. I was not content. I worked hard, earned fairly good money and could pay for my studies and vacation at the best spots but professionally I was not fulfilled. My career path seemed blocked, as every opportunity that came up was always filled by someone else. It was during the Productivity Workshop, the final session in the MBA program at Nova Southeastern University, that it hit me that I did not want to spend anymore time doing something I didn’t want to do. I seriously started thinking about establishing a business and established my first company SSP APTEC, within two months.

Having taught at the graduate level for over 15 years, I realized that I had a special gift to connect with people. My reason for doing what I do is to help individuals and organizations become a better version of who they are. I truly want to make a difference in the lives of all the persons I interact with and have the privilege to serve. I strongly believe we can change the world one mind at a time.

While pursuing my Doctorate at NSU, I travelled to Florida quite often for classes and seminars. As I became more familiar with the area I found it was quite similar to Jamaica. I chose to locate my business here in Florida because of the climate, the diverse population, the growing economy and of course the proximity to Jamaica.

Sometimes we are discouraged by family and friends not to pursue our goals. This doesn't mean that they are against us, oftentimes they want to protect you. My advice would be to take risks, believe in yourself, don't give up on your dream. Don't let anybody tell you that what you are thinking and dreaming cannot happen.

Sharing their successes as well as failures. I can learn from both. Helping me make new connections so I can add value in the Florida market.
